Michigan Theater

Phase 2 of the Historic Michigan Theater included the adaptive use renovation of the 30’ x 70’ Entry Lobby, whose ornate decorative plaster ceiling was unearthed after being hidden from sight by an acoustic drop ceiling for a number of years. After repositioning of the ticket window, concession stand, and entry doors, 3 months of priming, base painting, and the application of composite gold leaf complimented by a 12-color palette of oil glazes was applied and finished just in time for the theater’s Grand Opening ceremonies in January of 2001. We recently worked with the theater to start cosmetic restoration on the grand theater organ.
